Two quick points regarding fishing videos...
First, there are few better ways to learn how to improve your fishing skills
than watching videos of accomplished anglers, and maybe even more important, watching videos of yourself casting, setting the hook,
and the like.
It's apparent that watching a very talented angler will allow you to see what makes that person so special.
Sometimes it's very easy to discern the reason for their success, however, at other times it's the tiny little almost invisible techniques "pros"
employ that set them apart.
Particularly in fly fishing, watching video of yourself will help you refine your technique, and
eliminate errors that are keeping you from reaching the next level in your quest to become a great angler.
When taking videos,
plan ahead. Make sure you bring a tripod, and extra batteries. If another person will be your videographer, it's important
to make sure they understand to be calm, move slowly, zoom slowly, don't talk any more than necessary, and not loudly. Turn
so the wind is not blowing directly into the microphone, if possible, and have the sun at the back of the videographer.
Producing
quality videos is not difficult, but takes practice. Putting in some time at home before arriving at your fishing destination,
as opposed to making the mistakes while fighting the fish of a lifetime, is certainly a good idea.
